MaintScope · Skin clinic

Skin clinic & cosmetic studio climate

Cold-stored product worth more than the fridge holding it, and clients lying still under lights for an hour. A domestic fridge swinging three or four degrees per cycle is degrading actives, and it shows up as a client who wasn't happy with their result.

And if it's still running

Know what it's going to cost you — before it costs you

A licenced tech goes through every bit of air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration you've got, and writes down what condition it's in, what needs doing and when, and what it's realistically going to cost you over the next year and the next five. Plain English, one PDF.

Equipment someone else has already decided must keep working.

What the report actually says

This is an example, not a real customer. It's built from the equipment a skin clinic business typically runs, so you can see the shape of the report before you book one. Yours would be based on what's actually in your place.

What you’ve got

Equipment Age Condition Note
Product fridge (cosmeceutical/injectable) ~4 yrs Action Domestic-grade unit, swings 3–4°C per cycle
Treatment room splits x3 ~6 yrs Watch One noisy, all filters overdue
Reception split ~6 yrs Serviceable
Laser/device room ventilation ~6 yrs Watch Extraction weak

Needs attention now

  • Your product fridge is a bar fridge in a clinical role. It cycles 3–4°C either side of setpoint. Product that specifies 2–8°C is spending part of every cycle outside it, and the stock in there is worth more than the fridge several times over.
  • Treatment room filters. Clients lie still for 30–60 minutes. A room that drifts warm is the difference between a rebooking and a review.
  • Device room extraction. Plume and vapour need to actually leave the room.

Your service year

When What
Weekly Product fridge temperature check
Quarterly Treatment room filter clean — heavy product aerosol load
April Full service, all splits
Sept Pre-summer service, treatment rooms priority
Annual Fridge service and calibration, extraction check

What it costs — next 12 months

Item Low High
Product fridge service + calibration $220 $420
Treatment room splits (3), 2 visits $1,080 $1,680
Reception split $180 $280
Extraction check and service $280 $560
Total $1,760 $2,940

Coming in five years

  • Purpose-built product fridge — $2,500–6,000, and worth doing well before then
  • Split replacements — $2,200–4,000 each
  • Extraction upgrade — $2,000–6,000 depending on devices

Quietly costing you money

Product integrity. A fridge swinging outside spec degrades actives, and degraded product means results that don’t match what you promised. You’d never see it as a refrigeration problem — you’d see it as a client who wasn’t happy with their outcome.

What I’d do first

  1. Log the product fridge for a week. If it swings, replace it with purpose-built — that’s the highest-value fix in the building.
  2. Filters across all treatment rooms, then quarterly
  3. Verify the device room extraction actually moves the air it should

How it works

$150 to come out. Everything else depends on what's there.

  1. I come out — $150.I go through the lot: what you've got, how old it is, what condition it's in. Takes an hour or two depending on how much is in the place.
  2. You get it in writing within 48 hours. One PDF. What's there, what needs doing and when, what it should cost you over the year, and what's coming further out.
  3. Anything that needs fixing, I quote on what I find.I can't price a service off a website — it depends on the unit, the access and what turns up when it's open. You'll get a real number, not a guess.
  4. If you'd rather not think about it again, I'll handle it.Scheduled servicing across the year, timed around your trade. No lock-in — plenty of people take the report and go it alone, and that's genuinely fine.
For a skin clinic, expect somewhere around $1,760–2,940 a year in routine servicing once it's on a schedule — not counting breakdowns. Most people are either spending nothing and paying for it later, or spending more than that reacting to things. Knowing the number is the point.
